There are many people who realize that they can use our training methods no matter which discipline they exercise with their horses, to be better in their own branch. We believe that is why we have gained so much success in Sweden.

Two Knights who met in the Middle ages

I
t was in 2006 and 2007 as these two started with showjousting. They discovered not only that they had common interests, they also concluded that the environmental training of the horses in this area was absolutely fantastic. When you ride in front of thousands of spectators with loud music and lots of applause, and at the same time exposing the horse for advanced weapons exercises in speed, then it is a must that the horse is well prepared. Together they have over 20 years experience in horse training.

Ylwa is a combination of every one of Astrid Lindgren's little rascals and a modern Knight - A passionate and stubborn rebel, who was born in a tussock in the forest. Those who know her well, usually call her "Ronia the Robber's daughter" Only three years old, she ended up on her first horse, and has basically been sitting there since.

Mats is a committed and humorous entertainer who was born in Leksand in the good old 60's in a family who had trotters. He has had long periods of "walk abouts" in Sweden's long country to finally return to his homeland. They met in the middle ages and became best friends, then one day it just "clicked".

"When I met and Ylwa in 2007, an idea was born of being able to live at working with our common interest in horses, humans, and social responsibility. When we moved in together in 2010, Dalecarlian Horse Adventures was born." says Mats. "From the beginning we are two show artists who always have had the same dream, to ride our horses as naturally as possible. Mats started riding showjousting on ropehalter in 2008 and was quite alone about it. In 2012 I made my debut on the Arabianhorse Jeenial in the showjousting course with only a neckstrap and it created very close attention."continues Ylwa. "There were many people who were curious about the way we trained and rode our horses, and there are many more who then have realized that they can use our methods no matter which discipline they exercise with their horses, to be better in their own branch. We believe that is why we have gained so much success in Sweden.

what is your vision?

"We always tell our students that our goal is to make them better than us! We love the feeling of seeing others lifted up and blow their barriers of what they think is possible. It is one of the biggest reasons that we do what we do! " says Mats. "We want to create a better world for all the horses and their riders in the world, both in everyday life, but also on training and competition. A world filled with courage, trust and teamwork" continues Ylwa "and if we didn't think that we all actually could make a change in the world for the better, then we wouldn't be working with this! "
